Val Jenkins JP
Val, who lives in Dereham, has been an Independent Member of the Police Authority since October 2008, having originally joined as a Magistrate Member in 2004.
Val's reason for joining the Authority was to assist with communication between the public and the Constabulary and visa versa. The role of magistrate has been linked to policing for hundreds of years and she felt that they have a unique insight into the way the Constabulary is perceived by members of the local community, including offenders and alleged offenders.
Val is a member of the following committees:

- Custody Visitors Committee (Chairman)
- Ethical Standards Committee
- Professional Standards & HR Committee
- Scrutiny and Audit Committee

Magistrate on
Presenter of 'Magistrate's in the Community' presentations to local groups to help the public's understanding of the work of the Magistracy, and to help with recruitment of magistrates
Presenter, with Probation Officers, of "LC:CS" (Local Community : Community Sentence) presentations to local community groups to increase understanding regarding community sentences.
Provider of Courses in Management Development and Customer Care.
